What to Know Before You Undergo Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
- Please have nothing to eat or drink 8 hours prior to your surgery. This includes gum, mints and water.
- Please refrain from use of Marijuana in any form 3 days prior to your appointment.
- No alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Please remove nail polish and/or fake nails from both of your index fingers.
- All piercings from the neck up must be removed prior to arriving to the office.
- A licensed driver over the age of 18 must accompany you to the office and remain for the duration of your appointment. Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the surgery performed with general anesthesia or I.V. Sedation.
- Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, or a short sleeve shirt and closed toe shoes.
- If you have an illness such as a cold, the flu, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office prior to your appointment.
- If you take routine oral medications, please check with our office prior to your surgical date for instructions.
